22 Weeks

22 weeks! That means I have officially started my 6th month of pregnancy!

I do not feel like I am 6 months pregnant.

But I have really noticed that I cannot move as quickly anymore. I still am trying to move and get up and down as fast as "normal", and I have realized this past week that I am going to have to slow down.

I have been feeling a bit of ligament stretching/discomfort/whatever you want to call it. I have been taking Duke on walks and I have felt it after walking.

That's what I get for trying to exercise I guess! Go figure. I am going to try prenatal yoga next.

This week I have really been into vegetables.

I wanted steamed broccoli for my evening snack. I ended up eating it for two dinners in a row.

And I've also really wanted some canned green beans.

So I've had a lot of vegetables this week!

Here's another late night "I'm tired" picture:

We are getting closer to getting more furniture for her room. I am anxious to get some of her stuff put away!

I can feel her little body more easily by pressing on different areas of my belly. Chris and I enjoy feeling her kick every day. And feeling her little head next to my belly button. According to my pregnancy app, she is around 8 inches long and weighs 1 pound! It is truly amazing what the female body is capable of! I've waited so long for this little baby, and some days I am still in disbelief that I am carrying this life inside of me. I feel so blessed to be given this gift. I can definitely see how some women miss being pregnant.

I know, I know...I say that right now when I am in the "easiest" time of pregnancy. But I really think I will continue to feel this way regardless of what other pregnancy symptoms come my way.

And hopefully Ava and I will continue to be happy and healthy! Prayers are welcome. :)

A Pregnant Woman's Guide to Maternity Clothes

Being pregnant with my first child, I had zero experience maternity clothes shopping. I had no idea what sizes I would need nor what products would work for me. Given that every body type is so different, and each pregnancy is so different, this post will simply serve as a guide and just a place to start. Ultimately, you will have to make some decisions yourself on what will work best for you. I just thought I'd share what I have learned in this first pregnancy. When Should I Start Buying Maternity Clothes? To me, this question has a simple and easy answer. NOW. (or, as soon as you find out you are pregnant.) Here's why: CLEARANCE . Take advantage of that clearance rack! If you buy as soon as you find out you are pregnant, the clothes on clearance are going to be the right season for when you are in your third trimester. I did a little shopping in the first trimester (early winter) and I got great summer tanks and maxi dresses for a ...

Turkey Burgers with Peach Avocado Salsa

The other day I bought 4 pounds of peaches from Sam's Club. I had heard that they were always really good, so with our new Sam's membership, I decided to pick some up. They look amazing from the outside, large, beautifully colored. I sliced one up and took a bite. I was expecting to have juice running down my fingers or my face or something. Nope. They were virtually juice-less .The texture was fine, but without the juice, there was no way I could eat them plain. I'd never been so disappointed by a peach before. So what to do with 4 pounds of peaches? I decided that I would make a peach salsa. I've had mango salsa before, and it was a nice combination of sweet and spicy. Salsa would be a perfect way to disguise the fact that the peaches I had were missing their natural juiciness. Peach salsa, for whatever reason, made me think of turkey burgers. It's my new favorite thing to order at restaurants. I had a turkey burger to die for at The Cheesecake Factory off t...

18 Weeks

I can't believe it's February already!! I'm 18 weeks and the baby is approximately the size of a mango. A kicking mango! She likes to kick a lot. Sometimes I have to really be focused to feel it; the other day she gave a pretty strong kick for being just 5 inches long! I feel her right at the waistband on my non-maternity pants. (Would you like my chevron cardi? Check it out here  on maurices' website!) Is it just me, or does 18 seem like a very big number?! I am approaching the halfway mark! That is kinda scary! I was at the PX the other day, and I was wandering around and realized I haven't bought anything  for baby Ava yet. Ok, so we bought a few KU onsies, but that was before we knew she was a girl. So I thought I'd let myself pick up a few things. I about lost it when I saw this in size newborn: Is that not THE CUTEST THING  you have ever seen?!?!?! I had to have looked like a fool to anyone walking by; I'm sure I had a h...
