22 Weeks

22 weeks! That means I have officially started my 6th month of pregnancy!

I do not feel like I am 6 months pregnant.

But I have really noticed that I cannot move as quickly anymore. I still am trying to move and get up and down as fast as "normal", and I have realized this past week that I am going to have to slow down.

I have been feeling a bit of ligament stretching/discomfort/whatever you want to call it. I have been taking Duke on walks and I have felt it after walking.

That's what I get for trying to exercise I guess! Go figure. I am going to try prenatal yoga next.

This week I have really been into vegetables.

I wanted steamed broccoli for my evening snack. I ended up eating it for two dinners in a row.

And I've also really wanted some canned green beans.

So I've had a lot of vegetables this week!

Here's another late night "I'm tired" picture:

We are getting closer to getting more furniture for her room. I am anxious to get some of her stuff put away!

I can feel her little body more easily by pressing on different areas of my belly. Chris and I enjoy feeling her kick every day. And feeling her little head next to my belly button. According to my pregnancy app, she is around 8 inches long and weighs 1 pound! It is truly amazing what the female body is capable of! I've waited so long for this little baby, and some days I am still in disbelief that I am carrying this life inside of me. I feel so blessed to be given this gift. I can definitely see how some women miss being pregnant.

I know, I know...I say that right now when I am in the "easiest" time of pregnancy. But I really think I will continue to feel this way regardless of what other pregnancy symptoms come my way.

And hopefully Ava and I will continue to be happy and healthy! Prayers are welcome. :)

23 Weeks

Hey, I'm actually posting this on time this week!  Maybe it's because I've been awake since 5 this morning.  For no good reason.  (But I did wake up thinking about a big, juicy cheeseburger. And a cup of coffee.) And what a looooong week it's been! We got a sleet storm of about 4 inches of accumulation followed by another inch or two of snow on Sunday night. The sleet froze into ice, basically paralyzingly the area.  I don't think the streets had been pretreated, although I saw trucks putting down liquid de-icer about a week before the sleet came through.  And because this area is not accustomed or prepared for such weather, everything shut down.  All of post was shut down- not even Burger King was open.  And even the mall closed. It takes a lot for the whole mall to close.  And I don't know what else because I didn't leave the house until last night.  I heard...

"Let's Play!" Series: What is Play, and Why it's SO Important

Welcome to my Let's Play! series!! My first "official" post is going to be kind of a summary on my feelings on why telling your child "Let's Play!" is so important! So what is "play" and why is it so important, anyway? Playtime for kids is a HOT topic lately. There are some big stories floating around about it - have you seen the one about schools that are doubling/tripling recess times and seeing improvements in students' work because of it? Playtime for our kids is complete freedom.  Open-ended activites where they can make their own choices and interact with their peers under their own choosing. Playtime is where children's minds can rehearse favorite activites, explore new possibilites, and foster friendships and find commonalities with peers. It's a lot of self-discovery and learning about their environment! It's where they explore "what happens if..." and learn the positive and negative consequences of th...

Just Keep Swimming

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it is that I want this blog to be. I feel as though I am getting closer. Ultimately, this will be a tool to keep in contact with family and friends after we PCS (Permanent Change of Station) to Ft. Campbell, KY . Not that facebook can't serve the same purpose, although a blog leans more towards storytelling as opposed to plastering a sentence or two that your 600 friends, acquaintances, and coworkers will see. And maybe, just maybe, if I can REALLY get the hang of things, I can blog tutorials of my favorite projects or recipes or discoveries in my Army life.  Currently I seem to be in a perpetual pit of quicksand. Any quick movements or attempts to get myself out of this mess just get me more overwhelmed. So I am coasting instead. Everything is out of my control right now, so there's no need to fight it. Sure, I may not know when I am moving, or how much notice I'll get when it's time to pack up, or even when I'l...
