8 Month Old Baby Girl!

I'm a little late posting this. 8 months sure came quickly!

Ava's personality is really coming out! She's been able to communicate her likes and dislikes a lot more recently. She has thrown a few "fits" when she's not happy with something! She's a little bit dramatic!

She is working on crawling, so she's been a bit more on the fussy side over the last few weeks. She hangs out on all fours and rocks back and forth and can bring her knees forward, and then she bellyflops forward! She's still working on what to do with her arms. She can move backwards and log roll around the floor and get around the living room a bit.

She's trying to figure out how to go from sitting to on her belly. Usually she just leans really far forward, face plants, and then smiles and frees her arms and legs!

She is down to 2 naps a day, both (usually) an hour and a half apiece, but sometimes less. After she was waking 4 times a night and I realized going in to her was making it worse, she's stopped waking at night...almost completely! Yayyyyy!!! She still wakes at 3 or 4:00 occasionally, so sometimes I do go and feed her. But the last week or two she has slept straight through! Sometimes she wakes just to roll around for a bit and then goes back to sleep.

She eats 3 meals a day and eats SO much! She eats fruits, veggies, grains, meats, and I recently started giving her dairy! She whines between each spoonful of yogurt, eagerly waiting for more! If I give her cheese with her meal, that's the first thing she goes for! I think she just loves food in general (just like her mommy and daddy!) and will take handfuls of food off her tray and shove it in her mouth without even looking at what she's eating. She has finally got the hang of a sippy cup and will take some drinks out of the spout instead of just chewing on it.

She can now pick up little pieces of food! She struggled with meats initially, but now it doesn't slow her down! I made salsa chicken in the crockpot the other night and she loved it! This whole Baby Led Weaning experience has really shocked me...it's amazing to watch her eat and enjoy so much table food! The mess she leaves in her wake? Not so amazing...I'm thankful her tray fits in the sink and that I had waterproof bibs on hand! It gets a little tiring to clean her messes 3 times a day, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I do spoon feed her yogurt, oatmeal, and applesauce - but I hold the spoon down low by the tray and let her grab it and bring it to her mouth while I hold it. That way she is in control, and we avoid massive messes and constant spoon-dropping!

Ava loves to sit and clap! She "waves" at her kitties and her doggy. She lights up when she sees them and loves it when we help her pet them. It makes her laugh when Zorro swishes his tail in her face!

We've been kind of cooped up in the house recently because of daddy's knee realignment surgery, so we've been busy taking care of him. My workload has been heavy lately, and I am anxious for the weather to improve so we can get back outside for some fresh air! I think Ava and I both have a bit of cabin fever. Ava loves to get out and about - she definitely makes errands more fun because she of how much fun she has looking at everything in the stores!

I recently hit up a local consignment sale I went to when I was pregnant with Ava. I got some great deals then, and got some great deals this time, too! I got all this for $60!!

I did some estimating and the value of all these items is around $275! So I saved over $200!!

It's hard to imagine Ava crawling around and pulling up and walking soon!

She can pull up to from sitting on the floor using her activity cube! I can't get her to do it on anything else yet. She's very determined, though!

I put away her bouncy seat and her Rock and Play.

She no longer uses her Bumbo seat or Boppy pillows.

She's big enough to wear 9 month clothes already.

She's in size 3 diapers.

Her bald spot on the back of her head has filled in.

One of her top 2 teeth are about to pop out any day now.

What is happening?!?!?!?!?!?!!!

Little Ava is growing up so fast!!

Those of you who have kids, how do you decide what photos of your baby to frame? I have her newborn one framed, and I keep thinking I want to frame more, but as she keeps growing, I can't keep adding more photos on the walls! Any ideas?

Easy-Peasy Pumpkin Decorating

I sure haven't gotten around to doing much decorating for the Fall. I'm feeling sort of "Bah-humbug" about Halloween this year. I did buy some pumpkins.  And then I put them outside the garage door.  And that is about all the effort I have put forth so far.  Last year I was inspired to do some creative chevron painting on my pumpkins and use decorative ribbons. For whatever reason, this year I've been so lazy and wanted something with less effort required.  Is that bad of me?! I got my act together today and put some spider web on my now dead bushes in the front of the house (yeah I managed to kill those - I did not consider how much the dirt would settle and the top two inches of the roots became exposed. Lesson learned!). I also put some up on the brick wall by the garage. That stuff sticks perfectly to the texture of the brick!  Then I put my pumpkins by the door. I had a few pairs of black textured tights, so I put one leg of

The Tears Won't Stop

I can't sleep, guys. Valentine's Day is coming up soon. And tonight, the tears started, and they just wouldn't stop. 2008 was truly an unbearable year. A lot of you know my story and the connection here, but many of you don't. I don't think that I've shared about the whole year, all together. I've been told by a few very supportive friends that my story could basically be a Nicholas Sparks movie; I think the ending is still being written. So, I'll do my best to get it all in writing, in one place. To start off, you'll need a little background information. It's mid-2007, and I am about to head off for my senior year of college, and my boyfriend (now husband) was about to embark on his first tour of duty overseas as a Military Police Reservist. My mom was 1 year into her cancer diagnosis, and was experiencing back pain, which she attributed to working in the yard so much that summer. After the New Year, Chris was about halfway t

That's My Story and I'm Sticking To It

Pinterest is amazing . Have you heard of it? I hope so, because if not, you are truly missing out. It has almost become the new "Google" for some (me). I am more likely to hop on Pinterest to search for a yummy recipe than search on Google. I would like to point out, however, that Google has a recipe tab that you can click on, and then on the left side of the screen you can checkmark the boxes to indicate if you want that ingredient to be present in your recipe. Kinda handy if you are looking for a recipe and you can only remember a few ingredients in it. Anyway, browsing Pinterest has led me to great ideas, recipes, products, and left me drooling over dream homes and a wardrobe to die for. But recently, as Pinterest has become more popular, I have noticed some really dumb links. I am not typically one to point out stuff like this, but some of these things just crack me up! I'm not sure I get this. This image is suggesting that this is an acceptable way to re-sea
